The Bloodline has been a dominant force in WWE for years, but the faction’s legacy extends far beyond its current members like Roman Reigns and The Usos. Long before them, legendary wrestlers from the Anoa'i family helped establish their name in professional wrestling history.
One such name is Samu, a former WWE Tag Team Champion, who made a significant impact in WWE before rising to prominence in ECW. In 2022, he signed a WWE Legends contract, four years after publicly revealing his stage 4 liver cancer diagnosis.
Now, the former WWE Superstar is facing another major health battle. Samu is scheduled to undergo open-heart surgery, and his family has shared a GoFundMe campaign, urging the WWE Universe to support him during this difficult time. His sister, Vale Anoa'i, who is also Roman Reigns' cousin, posted an emotional plea on social media, revealing that the surgery is set for Monday.
Samu’s Wrestling Legacy in the Bloodline
As the son of legendary WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i, Samu has been part of some of the most memorable moments in wrestling history. While older WWE fans will remember Samu from the early 1990s, younger fans might recognize his father, Afa, from the legendary Wild Samoans tag team, who were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
Afa's brother, Sika Anoa’i, was the father of WWE Bloodline leader Roman Reigns. Sadly, both Wild Samoans passed away in 2023, marking a heartbreaking loss for the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty.
