WWE News & Rumor Roundup – Major star accused of getting talents fired, big update on Charlotte's relationship, champion forced to drop title for not re-signing (December 25, 2021)

Welcome back to another edition of our daily WWE News & Rumor Roundup, where we list down all the top stories in professional wrestling.

One of the biggest names in WWE history has been accused of getting other talents fired, and we begin today's roundup with details of the explosive story.

Charlotte Flair's relationship status has also been a hot topic amongst fans ever since reports of her split with Andrade started doing the rounds. Based on her recent social media post, we now have a big update on the reigning SmackDown Women's champion.

A popular former champion revealed she was forced to drop her title for not re-signing with the WWE several years ago.

The roundup can't be complete without Vince McMahon as the WWE Chairman's name makes the news almost every day. Details of McMahon coming up with a new gimmick for a SmackDown star, as well as the boss' recent decision to put his house up for sale, have been covered.

On that note, let's get right into the WWE News & Rumor Roundup:

#5. Sabu claims The Undertaker got wrestlers fired from WWE

The Undertaker was a respected locker room leader in WWE during his heyday, and he had a tremendous backstage influence within the company.

Sabu recently revealed on PTM's Vinny Vegas that The Undertaker was against stiff in-ring workers and would inform management about stars who were rough in the squared circle.

The ECW legend claimed that The Deadman would 'b****' about wrestlers who were stiff with him and added that the same scenario applied to other top stars in the WWE. Here's what Sabu revealed:

"It's okay to be rough and stiff – I respect that. I don't like guys that are too light. The Undertaker, he was so light you don't feel him. If you're stiff to him, he'll b**** about you; he'll get you fired. But if you're stiff with me, I won't get you fired; I'll tell you to ease up or keep it up. The top guys in WWF [WWE], if you're too stiff with them, they'll get you fired." (H/t Danny Hart of Sportskeeda Wrestling)

Sabu perfectly understood The Undertaker's strict approach as it was of utmost importance to protect performers.

Sabu said talent couldn't afford to make mistakes and saw the reasoning behind The Undertaker's uncompromising reaction to wrestlers being a little too hard with their punches and strikes.

Do you agree with The Undertaker's methods while dealing with superstars who were excessively stiff in the ring?

#4. WWE's Charlotte Flair squashes breakup rumors by posting new photos with Andrade

WWE's Charlotte Flair has put all rumors of her split with Andrade to rest with her latest Instagram post.

The reigning SmackDown Women's Champion posted two photos with the AEW star and wished her followers a Merry Christmas.

You can check out the post below:

Speculation regarding the rift between Charlotte and Andrade began circulating online when the Hispanic star unfollowed Flair on social media a few weeks back.

Reports suggested that Charlotte decided to end her relationship with Andrade; however, both wrestlers maintained social media silence despite growing rumors.

Andrade, however, cryptically reacted to the 'fake news' with a tweet earlier this month, which teased the possibility of them still being together. As things turn out, Charlotte and Andrade are still a couple, and they seem to have had an enjoyable Christmas.

#3. Nikki Bella opens up on dropping the Divas title after refusing to re-sign with WWE

The Bella Twins were guests on Wrestling with Freddie, where they discussed several topics with former writer Freddie Prinze Jr.

Nikki Bella recalled when she and Brie left WWE in 2012 and the circumstances surrounding their exit. Nikki had just captured the Divas Championship but was forced to drop it to Layla at the Extreme Rules show within a week of her reign.

Nikki and Brie Bella were unhappy over the lack of communication from WWE's end regarding their futures in the company. The Bellas eventually decided to quit the company, and their move meant that WWE had to take the championship off Nikki before her departure:

"So, it's about — I think our contracts up after this one RAW, the next day. Still, no one talks to us, and I'm the champion. This is when I beat Beth Phoenix, and I'm wondering if anyone is going to talk to me about my contract. Sure enough, the reason why I dropped it to Layla in Chicago out of nowhere was that I was like, 'I'm not signing.' They were like, 'we'll give you these stories,' and I was like, you couldn't even have a conversation with me. I remember we'd just had this conversation, and I said, 'we're leaving.' They still probably thought Brie and I were going to sign after the show or that week; they kept calling. Literally, when we left RAW in Chicago, after the championship match, we left, and that was it." (H/t WrestlingInc)

Despite the controversial end to their first five-year stint in WWE, Nikki and Brie Bella returned in 2013 and went on to have Hall of Fame careers in the promotion.

#2. Details of Vince McMahon's new WWE gimmick for Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin has had multiple character transformations in WWE as he's currently portraying the 'Happy Corbin' gimmick.

Baron Corbin has had multiple character transformations in WWE as he's currently portraying the 'Happy Corbin' gimmick.

The SmackDown Superstar appeared on the latest episode of Out of Character with Ryan Satin and revealed how Vince McMahon came up with his new on-screen character.

Vince McMahon kept a close eye on Baron Corbin's rise and realized that he gets a lot of heat from fans. The WWE boss believed that having Corbin smiling all the time would make people hate the superstar even more on WWE TV.

Corbin also spoke about his backstage relationship with Vince McMahon, as you can view below:

"It's funny because they come up with these ideas. I think it's just being around Vince [McMahon] for years or Triple H – they kind of start to learn your personality, so they tailor characters, I think. They get this idea and tailor that character based on interactions with you over the years. It could've been something with Vince where I'm making him laugh or just having fun being one of the guys with him, and he's, like, 'Ah man, I got this idea where you're just over the top happy,' and he always tells me, he's like, 'People don't like you. They're really not gonna like you when you're really happy all the time,' and so, it works. Like I said, it's just fun, man."

Baron Corbin has been one of WWE's most prolific performers in recent years as the former WWE NXT star has rarely missed TV time and is always open to doing all kinds of storylines.

His continued success on the main roster is no surprise considering his strong backstage equation with Vince McMahon.
