WWE Day 1 is scheduled on Saturday, which is New Year's Day. There is no better way for Vince McMahon's promotion to ring in 2022. With the start of a new year, could WWE produce some huge twists to set the tone for the next twelve months?
Quite a few Superstars may experience a change in character before the road to WrestleMania begins, be it a face turn or a heel turn. Some of these are more likely than others, either at WWE Day 1 or elsewhere down the line. RAW and SmackDown would certainly benefit from some of these turns.
There are several possibilities heading into Royal Rumble later in January, making WWE Day 1 a must-watch affair. These heel and face turns would only add to the grandeur of the event. Let us know in the comments if you see any of them happening on Saturday.
#3 Heel turn: Randy Orton betrays Riddle after losing the RAW Tag Titles at WWE Day 1

Following weeks of doubt surrounding this match, The Street Profits will challenge RK-Bro for the RAW Tag Team Championship at WWE Day 1. Randy Orton and Riddle will welcome the challenge, with the challengers likely to have a spirited showing. But what if they win?
The likely destination for Orton and Riddle seems to be a split and a feud, potentially at WrestleMania. With WWE Day 1 being such a huge event, the first seed might be planted this week itself, with The Viper turning heel on his "bro."
It would come out of nowhere, in typical Legend Killer fashion. RK-Bro has soared as the Tag Team Champions on the red brand. Taking it away too soon would earn Randy Orton some substantial heat.

#2 Face turn: Kevin Owens wins the WWE Championship to a massive pop
For the past month, I’ve made the perfect plan that will guarantee victory at Day 1. I’m the smartest, toughest, and strongest in WWE, which is why in just five days, everyone will rejoice when they finally get the WWE Champion that they deserve. And his name is Kevin Owens! pic.twitter.com/cWaxAC49Xv

One of the most popular things that may happen at WWE Day 1 is Kevin Owens winning the WWE Championship. He will challenge Big E for the title, with Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins also in the match. If the latter is removed from the match due to COVID-19, another heel like Austin Theory could replace him.
Either way, KO could use them to rebound into a babyface at WWE Day 1. The former Universal Champion will receive a huge pop upon winning the WWE Title if it happens. WWE should turn him babyface on the spot in that case.
His heel run has been quite fun, but Kevin Owens has a lot to achieve as a good guy. Becoming a world champion again would be a great start, with a feud against Seth Rollins ready to go after WWE Day 1.
#2 Heel turn: Angelo Dawkins turns on Montez Ford after losing at WWE Day 1

Meanwhile, at the RAW Tag Team Championship match at WWE Day 1, The Street Profits will look to win the titles once again. Failure to defeat RK-Bro may lead to frustration among Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.
2022 feels like the year for Ford to break out as a singles star in WWE, so it could be set into motion right at the start. He is incredibly charismatic as a babyface, which makes Dawkins the default heel in the event of a break-up between The Street Profits.
A heel turn at WWE Day 1 would come out of nowhere, but Vince McMahon is known to break tag teams up without much direction in the aftermath. Could The Street Profits end up as another example?

After getting fired by Roman Reigns, we can assume Paul Heyman is loosely a babyface now. He did get saved by Brock Lesnar. Heyman certainly cut a sympathetic figure on SmackDown, stating that his career may be over.
However, this may turn out to be a ruse at WWE Day 1. Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Lesnar, with Paul Heyman potentially playing an important role in the finish. That important role could be the betrayal of The Beast.
Heyman can reaffirm himself as a villain by costing Brock Lesnar the match and returning to Roman Reigns' side. This turn would start 2022 off with a bang and ensure WWE Day 1 will live long in people's memories.
